Ft. Lauderdale-based distributor will offer reliable and cost-effective broadbandcommunications to yacht, sportfishing, and charter operators
Palm Beach International Boat Show, March 28, 2019 – FMC GlobalSat, a leader in delivering reliable, secure, and cost-effective converged communications solutions utilizing wireless and global satellite networks, announced it has reached an agreement with Fort Lauderdale-based Nauti-Tech to provide its comprehensive broadband service to maritime customers. Through this arrangement, Nauti-Tech’s customers can leverage FMC GlobalSat’s bundled 4G wireless and satellite connectivity service—which includes hardware, software, and support services—for a low monthly fee. The service is suited for a broad array of vessels, including yachts, sportfishing, charter, and other maritime operators that are looking to substantially improve communication and service without incurring substantial subscription fees and hardware costs.
Through the agreement, Nauti-Tech is offering a comprehensive platform that always maintains 4G wireless and HTS (High-Throughput Satellite) connectivity, and automatically switches traffic to the path with the strongest signal without any manual intervention. FMC GlobalSat’s 4G/LTSAT service includes all software, hardware, and network access in a single usage-based subscription model that is simple to use and cost-effective for many applications. FMC GlobalSat’s 4G/LTSAT solution provides seamless wireless roaming in all ports of call without captain or operator having to change SIM cards or register with a different carrier.
In addition, the bundle includes Kymeta’s software-steered flat-panel very small aperture terminal (VSAT) antenna for satellite communication, providing reliable and cost-effective connectivity—in a package that weighs less than 100 pounds. FMC GlobalSat also provides its Customer Portal application, which gives customers access to key performance indicators, relevant information like maps with real- time weather forecasts, wind conditions, sea temperature, currents and wave heights, data usage reports, and other services that impact safety, efficiency, and customer service.
“We have been working with Nauti-Tech for the last two years, and we are very pleased to formalize this partnership. Nauti-Tech has been successfully serving the maritime industry for well over two decades and has collaborated with us to install nearly 10 percent of all Kymeta satellite systems on yachts around the world,” said Emmanuel Cotrel, chief executive officer of FMC GlobalSat. “Through our combined efforts, Nauti-Tech can offer its customers a completely reliable and cost-efficient communications solution that automatically connects to 4G wireless and satellite technology for a low-cost monthly fee. As a result, yacht owners and captains can improve safety and efficiency, and enhance customer service, while greatly reducing operating costs.”
According to Jack Brunier, founder and chief executive officer of Nauti-Tech, FMC GlobalSat’s converged solution should be well received by the company’s client base.
“Marine operators have historically struggled finding a reliable broadband solution that will work seamlessly both in port and at sea without incurring exorbitant costs,” he explained. “We believe that many of our customers will be extremely satisfied when they learn about FMC GlobalSat’s service. It delivers unparalleled connectivity, at price points that make sense. Quite simply, it satisfies a very urgent need of our customers and maritime operators around the globe.”
